Christina Sobin, PhD
Hello!
I provide online telehealth psychotherapy to help adults of all ages with depression, anxiety, stress-related issues, lack of motivation, bereavement, relationship problems, and major life transitions. In addition, I have three areas of special interest.
Stress and Depression in Working Women: Women in the workplace face unique stressors. Psychotherapy can help the working woman clarify priorities, identify boundary issues, value positive work-life balance, understand and undertake good self-care practices, build coping skills and uncover new strength and resilience.
Pressures on Early Career Professionals: Getting a college degree after high school is not as easy as it sounds. The demands on students of all ages can create extreme pressure that many find difficult to navigate, especially in today's changing academic environment. Psychotherapy can help the early career professional learn to recognize patterns that limit progress, create beneficial structure to ensure forward progress, identify and connect with positive mentors who can support them in their career aspirations, and clarify long-term goals.
Successful Aging: Individuals of retirement age have wisdom and life-experience that should be an essential part of our culture. In our youth-oriented society however, people of retirement age are often under-valued or ignored, and health issues can complicate life. Depression and isolation in later years is not a part of "normal" aging. Psychotherapy can provide people of retirement age with the interpersonal support to think differently about aging, connect with others, and change expectations about the future.

Interpersonal Therapy
Humans are social beings and our relationships deeply impact our mental health. Interpersonal therapy focuses on improving relationships and social functioning through building new strategies and social skills.
Narrative Therapy
We all hold "stories" in our minds about our lives. These can shape our reality and influence our actions, expectations and relationships. Narrative Therapy helps clients examine their inner stories, and view problems as separate from one's identity.
Strengths-Based Therapy
This therapeutic approach focuses on identifying and enhancing your unique inner strengths and assets, to promote personal growth, resilience and feelings of well-being.
My Methods
Depending on a client's needs and preferences, I use psychotherapeutic methods from different evidence-based approaches and at times may combine methods. First and foremost, the approach used has to make sense to the client. As I begin to understand a client's issues and goals, we'll decide together on a best approach. Here are three examples.
